The only way this argument is going to be solved is by independent research not funded by anyone connected with the GMO debate. We are not going to settle it here. Guys with grest returns from their fields from using GMO seed are not going to give up using them for less yields because that's less money. People who are against them are not going to back down. I attended a lecture by a college professor who claimed that Monsanto's didn't like the data turned up in some research the professor was involved in so Monsanto cut funding for the research. Now I don't know if he was telling the whole story, outright lying or completely honest.
I don't trust the political end to settle this. They too have too many agendas, "green" energy and voters who like cheap prices in the store being the big ones. That means the the FDA is out of the argument too.
Because of the unknowns I don't use them. When I'm convinced one way or the other I will make a final decision. Until then I will do what I'm doing which is trying to produce the best, safest product I can. I'll take a smaller yield till then to keep my conscious clear.
