LOL never said it was out dated to you and some others. But on a 3 day show, in the evenings what goes one if anything? Last one I was at had both country and blue grass going on after dark. I saw maybe 50 people there and most of em were my age or older. Of people under 30 most were small children. Only teens were the 3 or 4 who were playing. In the 20-30 age made up about 2 or 3% and I think most of those looked very bored and were only there cause there was noting else to do and or they knew someone performing. Sure there are some younger people involved in old country and blue grass. The bar owners in our area have figured it out. They put on a street dance and get a classic rock band they have people of all ages. They hire a country band they the 40 and older crowd for the most part.
I'm not saying it's the only thing that need to be done but if yer expecting a teen to go to a show they can have fun during the day but in the evenings, seperated from thier games and friends, in a camp ground they get bored quick. Then offer em music most don't care for as the only entertainment......GEE if I were a teen that would kill my interest right there!
I'm kinda off beat sometimes and I know that. But having served in the Army until I was 40 kept me around much younger people and I think kept me more in touch with how they think......basic watch words or catch phrase is "Don't Bore ME". Just cause you don't want change don't mean it's good for the hobby in the long run.
Oh, by the way for every one fiddle player under the age of 40 I'll bet there are 5000 guitar players!

Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
