I can't wait until the 1970's tractors become collectible so they make more reproduction parts for them! hah!
I don't plan on getting rid of a few of those tractors I grew up on, but at the same time, my dad didn't get rid of all teh tractors he grew up on, so, I got a chance to grow up with the ones he did, and someday, my kids will grow up with some of my grandfather's tractors from the 50's(The family used nothing but horses until the late 40's), dad's tractors from the 70's, and the ones from the 90's-2000's that dad and I run now.
I think tractors become very sentimental to sons, because their heroes spent 8 hours a day running them, or taking care of them. After a while, they seem to just become a part of the family. I also think that the reason a lot of younger people might not get a chance to keep family tractors is because they seem to bring a lot of money resold and they just aren't built like they used to be. The whole notion of planned obsolescence is destroying the country. It makes corporations tons of money, because they sell more and more stuff, but at the same time, it drove the US automarket right into the toilet, and kids are growing up thinking it is normal to toss things out constantly. I remember having refridgerator from the 1950's up until probably the 1990's. when it went, we got a new one, and it lasted for about 5 years, then, the next one lasted 7 years, and the newest one is probably on it's deathbed too.
It's a crazy world... A person could get really stressed out thinking about all this stuff. It's best just to ignore it all, get on teh tractor and plow something and forget about everything else.
