I have to add too. I have an Oliver 1600 that Grandpa bought new in 64, and from day 1 it always had issues with the points system. I switched it over to a pertronics EI several years ago, have almost 400 hours on them and haven't had one lick of trouble. Before I had to take off the distributer cap every 5-10 hours and diddle with it. I kept the same coil that I had on it before, as it was a new one from AGCO from when I had rebuilt the engine, and I only added the EI kit in place of the points and condensor.
While it doesn't go plowing in the fields, it does run the blower for hay corn and straw, and it does all of our planting in the spring. Also fills in here & there on other jobs if the 285 is busy or down.
Our Massey 165 hasn't had the same issues with the distributer, so we're leaving it alone.
