You're doing the right thing for the dog and you. I hope you have plans for the dog when you're at the training sessions. Most motels don't want you to leave them in the motel room.
I took my Black Lab with me overnight last year and we stayed in a motel. He wasn't used to the noises, cars and doors slamming, people talking etc. I had a heck of time keeping him quiet, didn't get much sleep until after 2AM.
I still enjoyed having him along as he's a good passenger. The previous Black Lab was a good dog but a poor passenger. {could not sit still) when he was young until he died at 12 1/2.
