Good thing you kept wour wits about you and remembered your jug of water. Not quite the same deal but a few years ago I was on I 94 near Toma WI heading back to the Twin Cities. Was going to stop for gas at the truck stop there and not far before the exit there was a big splotch of oil on the road and about 100 yards past that a brand new truck with two others piggyback on it getting hooked up to the tow truck. I got my gas, had a bite to eat and was just walking out when the tow truck came in. So I walked over and asked what had happened. The driver said he was just plugging along when all of a sudden rattle, rattle, wham, BANG! A rod let loose and put a big hole through the side of the block. Kind of made you cringe thinking about a brand new engine wrecked like that but I guess it does happen once in a while.
