A 12 volt GENERATOR (Not talkin Alternator here since you stated generator) may work if you simply use a 6 volt voltage regulator.....A genny/starter/alternator repair shop can swap out field windings to convert a generator from 6 to 12 or 12 to 6 volts. Ive made 6 volt gennys charge a 12 volt battery simply by changing the VR to a 12 volt but I dont recall going from 12 to 6 but seems that should be even easier on the gennys field windings as they will handle less current NO WARRANTY ON THAT HOWEVER
