Well, I bought her 4 days ago. Mowed with Doris today. (yes her name is doris)
seemed to do good, time will tell. no blow by, tight pto, whines slightly in 2nd adn 3rd, but still rock solid.
I was worried about the lack of front grill. I made this one:
Then got her painted adn dried before mowing...
Not exactly stock, lighter gauge wire... but if you Cub guys come knocking at my door saying I did it wrong, I will agree, just was impatient. I could have gottent eh corect 18b gauge woven wire, but I didn't want to wait on shipping while the weather is still nice.
still, the frame is correct, not like the reproductions with welded seams. mine is correct.
It was dark by the time I mowed, so I got to test out the charging system for the first time. ammeter is crap, so, I relied on a time proven method to test it... I mowed in the dark for a long time. The lights never dimmed and the 6 v battery would still crank it over when I was done.

WEll, that was my day.. Was nice, weather was nice, but today I have a few things to do to make it even better. I got someone offer me $1000 for the Cub. I didn't know whether to laugh or poop on their shoes even thought I had a nice one brewing.
I want to fix my cub so I would like to sell this one. (my cub was bought on this farm in 1955, it's a 53 model, but must have sat.) It was never off the farm until 1999, when I took it to work for a week. Aside from that, it has been here for almost 60 years. I can't replace it. might be headed to e b ay or Craigs awesome list. I don't know yet. it starts easy, runs good, no blow by, no smoke, no stupid stuff. just a good tractor..
but I have over $1500 into it. I need the money back to fix up the original cub. This was the biggest impule by in teh world... yoy
