Get a second 4020, or if you can afford a bit more, a 4430. You will want equipment the size that will require 80+ HP. 14-16 ft. chisel plow, 6-row planter would be nice. 6601, 7721 , pull- type combine if you can find one with a straight head for wheat and beans, or 6600 or 815 if you plan corn. Get a semi-mounted moldboard plow 4/16s or 4/18s if you get a 4430. You don't have to chisel if you only need to cover 40 acres. When you have 6 hours to combine, plow, chisel, you didn't count on fixing old machinery for 5 hours first. Plan on that. A second equivalent sized tractor is of definite value. It should have a three-point hitch and my bias is for 1000rpm PTO. You can spend less on other brand tractors, but none of equivalent value. Look on tractorhouse at 1086s and 4440s, equivalent year and HP tractors. There's a reason for that price difference. 720s, Ms, WD45s are not going to satisfy you very much other than on community plow day. I would also get a 3-point mounted ~55 gallon sprayer. The commercial sprayers won't necessarily get to your 40 acres when you want them to, and having the small sprayer with 15ft booms gives you much more control over the timing of your applications. You will have fun with the 40 acres, but depending on your other job demands, it may be all you can handle with weekends and nights to do the work. Do you have a shop and tools for the fixing?
