I addition to Jerry's post. Inspect the waterpump/fan pulley and the alternator pulley. Odds are the belt has been run loose at sometime and has worn the pulley grooves. Even with a new belt, it will have to be over tightened to prevent slippage. Next the water pump bearings and alternator bearings will fail. Don't ask how I know this. What kind of coolant is being used? Original factory coolant? Or tap water mix? Coolant corrosion inhibitor test strips are cheap at the JD dealer. Use them to verify the coolant hasn't turned acidic and is eating the gaskets and sleeves away.
