I will copy/paste the email I got. I am selling the remainder of my planting wheat (maybe 80-100 bushels) on craig's list. So, I get this email first:
"
Can I use this wheat to make flour for home baking. Please replay and advise.
Tks Tom
"
Now, that looks innocent enough. It mention that I was selling wheat, not just saying "Doyou still have your item for sale?" Although, I am not too keen on the wording... "Please [reply] and advise"
So, I did reply back, not knowing where this guy is, or anything. This is the second email I get from him:
"I am so thankful for your reply. I am a retired attorney in Florida and will need a source of wheat to feed some poor people in the near future. I have a flour mill and need access to a couple hundred lbs. of wheat, how can I get some 50# bags shipped to me? Where are you located, how can I persuade you to do that. I will pay in advance. Tom Lakeland Fl.
Tks again
"
Now, that is starting to sound somewhat suspicious, right? Way too much information, askign me abotu shipping, telling me some sob story that he is feeding poor people? WOW! Now, this is getting suspicious. and why ask someone from Burgettstown, PA about buying wheat, when you live in Lakeland, FL? Surely there is wheat in teh south, right? Wouldn't texas or some othe rplace be closer to buy wheat? how about organic food markets? Surely SURELY someone has wheat for sale closer than Burgettstown, PA. ...and claiming to be an attorney? why tell me this? Why not just call me on the phone before springing all this on me? and why feed "poor people" with wheat? what is this, Ethiopia?
So, I replied back:
"Why?
You can buy wheat in Florida, you don't have to have it shipped from up here. Where are there "poor" people in Lakeland Florida? Have you even ever been to LAkeland Florida? I have. The Hollis Gardens are beautiful. The whole town is bathing in money. and why are you trying to feed "poor people" with wheat flour? Don't you think canned goods, unperishable items, and potatoes would be a better thing for feeding the poor? wheat flour that is hand ground is perishable. So I think it is a bad idea. However, if you want it, you will need to send me money, with a return address, and I would appreciate it if you send it via paypal. "
I wasn't trying to be rude, but dang! I'm not taking an out of state check, adn since you can't just give a UPS driver a 50# bag of wheat, special shipping would need to be arranged and it just sounds like one big headache.
So, I get this reply...
"1) I live in Lakeland, Fl., it's probably my fault but I never heard of Hollis gardens. I feed poor people because I am a Christian and have been taught to do so. Poor people in Lakeland? Florida is about 2nd nationally in nemployment. I also feed a few in Tampa. There are 7,200 homeless in Hilsborough Co. (Tampa) alone. Can goods are a good buy as you pointed out, but what am I going to do when I go to Publix Mkt. and there are 2,500 Blacks out front with clubs? Insofar as being perishable most can goods are only good for a year in Florida heat. Potatoes are even worse. (This isn't our first Rodeo). We put our grains in "Food Grade Plastic, and 5 gal. Zepherhills water bottles and purge them with food-grade Nitrogen then seal them. Insofar as sending money to "you" that won't happen. You come across stupid and pugnatious. Sending you money would be a simple but stupid mistake.
Mark Twain said: "It's not that people don't know anything, the problem is all the things they know that just ain't so!"
You're probably good at your job, and I'm sure enough good a mine..... Let's keep that way. Have a good day.....
"
So did he just call ME stupid? That's it, I'm driving to Lakeland Florida and kicking some old retired guy's *ss! But wait, is this a clever hoax adn I caught him and he got mad about it, so he had to send me some reply to make me feel small? and wait.... did he just say there are 2500 blacks with clubs standing outside the Publix market in Lakeland? HOLY COW!!! No wonder he needs to get his wheat from PA! They will destroy him! LOL WOW! What is this all about? Is this guy legit?
So I let it go... whatever, it was a scam... but wait... then I get this email a few minutes later...
"Been to Hollis Gardens three times, just didn't know it's name......."
OK, so why did this scammer send me this email? caught him in a lie? Lakeland, FL is NOT poor. I couldn't afford to buy a twinkie from a gas station in that town. But, it is home to a lot of retirees, and there's another thing...
This guy's email address is "heddonsemail@" So, he says he is a retired attorney named tom. Well there are 4 "Thomas E Heddon" listed in the lakeland, FL directory, and 1 of them IS a retired attorney and prominent business man.
So... Is this some elaborate scam, or did I just insult a prominent retired attorney from FL? If he is a retired attorney, he should know VERY well about internet scams, and emailing someone and asking them to ship something... completely makes me so mad... especially the fact he called me stupid.
Now is my chance to prove I am stupid...
I am thinking about calling the Thomas E Heddon in Lakeland, FL and asking him if he emailed me about wheat. If he says no, I could turn the information over to the police, or this attorney in FL can file charges for impersonation and whatever else. I am mad!

Today's Featured Article - Hydraulics - Cylinder Anatomy - by Curtis von Fange. Let’s make one more addition to our series on hydraulics. I’ve noticed a few questions in the comment section that could pertain to hydraulic cylinders so I thought we could take a short look at this real workhorse of the circuit. Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
