Took a bit longer to get it done than I would have liked, but I chopped the last of our corn on Friday. On about 30 acres, we got 2 8' x 150' bags, plus another 12 loads in the silos (one only took 3) and we fed a few loads up while chopping over the last few weeks too. 47 loads total. Some years we don't even get 1 load/acre and this year we got over 2-1 in some fields.
Here's a picture of the bag side of the bagger-
First load going in. Started with our 285 on the bagger as we didn't have a bigger one lined up yet, but we later got ahold of our neighbor's White 100 to run the bagger and then Dad pulled the wagons with the 285.
Did a lot of night time chopping after work and just later on at night on the weekends to get it done. During the weekday I'd fill the 4 wagons when I could after work and then Dad would empty them the next day. This year we couldn't get more than 11 loads chopped in one day because we had constant interuptions, ranging from minor break downs to weddings where we just couldn't be out there when we wanted to. On better planned years we've been able to knock it all out, including 4th crop alfalfa, in 3 days.
Most of our corn was taller than the canopy on the tractor, and some was even taller than the wagons. Was easy to loose sight of me this year. Where the wind knocked it down made for some difficulty chopping, but still happy with how it went.
