Sat quite a few hours in one, and worked on a few over the years at an Allis dealer. Never was all that impressed with the power, most around here were turned up in the 200-225 range. Always seemed to me like if traction wasn't an issue, a good 7080 would walk away from one, assuming both were stock.
The good: Cheap, relatively uncommon, so cool factor is high :D looks great shined up, with mirror tint windows!
The bad: The 426 likes to throw rods. I'd replace rod and main bearings, and rod bolts if this has not been done recently.
Transmission had an issue, with the reverse idler, I think...can't remember anymore, but we had all 3 in our area in the shop, in the span of 6 months for this. Acted like it was in 2 gears at once. Seems like a nut came loose off a countershaft of something.
They seem to like to eat universal joints, but that may have been more of a problem with cheap aftermarket ones, not so much a design flaw.
The control cables for the levers / valve like to stick when worn, and lubing them never seems to help. They are wicked expensive, always had a local semi shop custom make them for about 1/3 the price.
Terrible cost of any Agco parts. Totally outrageous.
Don't mean to scare you, I actually like these things, but they do have their weak spots. Last fall, salvage bid on one here in SENE, with scattered engine was about $2500.
