I can't answer the magnet question, but I doubt it would affect the inverter unless extremely strong and right against the transformer that's hidden inside.
With any inverters of any size (e.g. 750 watts or bigger) I always bolt them down to a piece of plywood base and also put cable restraints on the board. This way you don't have to worry about the cable connections getting loose where they fasten to the inverter input. By the way when I mention any watt-rating, I'm talking about the real-world continuous rating and not the marketing-hyped surge number.
Seems it would be fairly easy to make a weather-proof box all around one. But - it has to get ventilation.
As to using some sort of big jumper-cable type clips? Yes, some come with them but usually for inverters up to a 750 watt size. Usually beyond that they call for hard-wiring due to the high amp draw. But if you made your own, I guess it could be done with a somewhat larger inverter. I'd rather use a high-amp DC disconnect like they use for jumper cables that plug into service or rescue vehicles. They push onto two pins and are much more reliable.
