There are several ways of doing this as I went through it when my Mother passed away several years ago. If the equipment is fairly new and there are several other heirs involved I would get more than one estimate. If you live in a farming community a good source is a local banker familiar with machinery values, perhaps one that your Dad dealt with. Also some Greenstone office managers will accomodate you with an appraisal. Also as others have said a local auctioneer could be a great help. If the estate is fairly small you can put a blanket price on personal property and call it good if others agree. Like others have also said all you need probated is anything that has a title or deed so that you can prove ownership down the road when you come to sell it. Hope this helps. Sorry about your Dad, I know that these are troubling times.
