I like areins, and they too are made in the USA- Made in Brillion, Wisconsin. The newer chute control does suck, but last year I picked up an older 1032 (10 HP 32 inches) for $450. The hardware store took it in on trade and hadn't gone through it yet. Needed the friction disc adjusted and a new scraper bar under it, and an oil change. That thing is a beast and blows just about anything.
I think areins has an upgrade kit available fo their chutes as well, but I could be mistaken.
On a side note-if you find a used JD snow blower, it's the same thing as an areins as well.
