The well here and the neighbour's well 1/4 mile away. Are "shallow" drilled wells down through 90ft of clay and into 10-15ft of gravel on top of the bedrock.100ft of 5" casing Water rises on it's own to 20ft from surface in both. I've pumped 12gpm for 16hr straight and the water level dropped 6 inches. water is "soft". Pump is down 60ft. Other neighbour 1/4 mile away has a 300ft well. Pump is down 250ft.Water is full of iron, stinks and flow is just enough to take a bath. or water the lawn with one sprinkler only. So as everybody else says, it depends. These two good wells are unusual being "less is more".
