Some of local papers Business section articles note that Global with former governor of New Jersey as head had "invested" in European governm,ent and commercial bonds --and had high amount of Greek bonds in portfolio. When Greek financial rescue was finalized private bond holders had to accept 50% loss. Global 2 weeks back article supposed to have had some options or short sales on Italian bonds and Italian bank paper- these have not performed as hoped also. US treasury notes at 1% or so aren"t profitable but at least at this time "safe". Gold coins bought 2/3 years back under mattress have increased a bit more- but trade get a bit of hassle at times. French and German private, middle class and working class investors with knowledge of history and their government competence(not very at times) have for years gotten small amounts of silver and gold coins just in case economy goes to he!!. Take a lesson there. RN
