Long story short. Neighbor was square baling some late cut hay in mid-October, and was slow getting it picked up off the field. Last weekend he fell off from a load of hay and was injured pretty bad, ended up hospitalized for several days. No way will he be doing anything more with this hay this year. He has no livestock of any kind, and this hay is marginal for feed anyway. No place to store it inside, as barns are already full from the summer's crop. About 2,000 bales left to pick up off the fields yet. A group of guys are going to try and get it gathered up this weekend, but we don't know of any market for the hay here in central MN. Anybody have any suggestions? Tried a couple construction outfits to use it as erosion control, but they don't want to store it over winter and also prefer big bales over the small squares. Would like to eliminate a step and not have to outside store it if possible. Rather get it sold and gone if possible. Not looking to get much for it, just cover the cost of twine and fuel for him if possible.
