#1 Most states require by law that the product be sold at the advertised price. If the sign says 3.13 then you get it for 3.13. They just have to wait till you are done pumping. That has happened to me before and I kept doing what I was doing and told the clerk to call the cops. They back down real fast then.
#2 I'm not willing to go with communism and thats what you would have if the government fixed prices. There are laws about gouging and I believe that big oil is doing just that but the government is in charge of investigations and prosecuting.......our politicians are not going to release "the dogs of war" on companies that make very large contributions to BOTH parties.
#3 the stations have little to do with prices, they get told by the supplier what to charge and will often get a call telling em to raise prices right now.
#4 it's called inflation.
#5 years ago there was no where near as much demand for diesel. Demand causes the price go up.
