Take a look at the Kia Sorento with the 2.5 diesel. 140 HP but you shouldn't need much more. Don't know about the chip thing...... Wife has a 2006 and it zooms right along and pulls a 3.5 ton trailer real nice...... Repair parts aren't real expensive and they don't seem to need much repairing......
