Okay, once you have the batteries in paralell, + to + - to - youre "ALMOST" drawing the same load off each battery SUBJECT ONLY TO MINOR VOLTAGE DROPS IN THE CABLES USED TO ATTACH THE BATTERIES TOGETHER.
Thats why I would use good heavy interconnection cables when tying the two together.
THAT BEING SAID: A while back over on an RV Forum this similar topic was discussed, and indeed battery connections and connection methods for multiple batteries in paralell was well covered in the article linked below"

According to that article, your mention of one wiring one lead to one battery with the other off the other IS INDEED A GOOD IDEA.
HOWEVER as the article shows, its even BETTER if you wire them as shown.
BUTTTTTTTTTTTT the ideal method requires a lot of extra connections and bad resistive connections can cause more problems then the advantages in theory
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO my best free advice and in my OPINION I would wire them as you suggested, one lead to one battery other lead to the other battery and use good heavy cables and establish good connections and that will work a bit BETTER then if you didnt do it that way, although maybe not quite as well as the "ideal method" shown in the article.
NOTE: THIS ALL CONCERNS EQUALIZING THE BATTERIES
Thats my "opinion" (and how Id do it), others may have different opinions and the article linked is yet another opinion SO NOW ITS YOUR CHOICE
John T Too long retired EE and NOT a battery expert but Id wire it one lead to one battery other lead to other battery.........

I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned. But alas, my carb foiled me again, it would fire a second then flood out. After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
