There are 300 of them in our wind farm and 1 of them is on our farm, Cash rent for crop land is around $300 an acre right now, Windmill rent is $3500 an acre. 2 acres for turbine and driveway. They do make some noise, kind of a whoosh sound. Don't even notice anymore, Been living by the Union Pacific, or Burlington Northern all my life. Morons in town are getting them silenced (maybe it will thin a few of them out). The turbines are much quieter and easier to get used to than the trains. All the power is sold on the grid to Chicago mostly.
Lots of hard working folks got jobs building these things, some locals got good jobs maintaining them.
