Yes, he can't get them. At least not right now. He does find "old stock" deals now and then. Last year had a few sets that sold fast. I wish I'd bought a set. As I recall, 420, 440, and 1010 all use the same pins and bushing although the tracks themselves differ a little. 1010 has four-bolt pads.
I've been considering making my own pins and bushings from drill rod and DOM tubing. I figure I can make them all for around $500 including the cost of hardening. Just a bit time consuming. Then I've have to pay someone with a track press to install and the price goes up.
Deere sells 350 parts to fit 1010 which requires a lot of new part worth more then the entire crawler.
I don't use my crawler a lot and I figure a 1/2 worn set of used tracks will last longer then I will. I'm just not eager to pay $1000-$1500 for them. A few years ago I bought a pair of tracks from MacFaddens for my Allis Chalmers HD4 for $800 and they were like new. THAT was a bargain.
