Low Budget, you are right that most JD 5020s had a hydraulic clutch. Mine was one of the first 250 made and did not come with a factory PTO. It was ordered bare backed. Then the PTO and three point was added at the dealer later. Then they offered a kit to add a PTO to it. It was set up with a dry PTO clutch in the pressure plate like the early 4020s.
The inter cooler will fit if you machine the holes and port the back adapter. It is not a direct bolt on without modification. Also The JD 5020 that I owned had the big injectors like the JD 5010s. I had the serial number checked twice because about half the parts seemed to be JD 5010 rather than JD 5020.
I sold it over 25 years ago when they where cheap. It was a rather rare tractor in how it was built. It was almost like the thing had been assembled form left over parts at the factory. I knew the tractor from new and it was not modified other than the turbo and inter-cooler. It just was an odd ball tractor.
I have ran into some of them over the years. I have often wondered if they where prototypes that where later sold. I owned a JD 2640 and you had to go to a JD 2550 to find the PTO clutch drum and lines like the one I had. It was only ten numbers under the serial number break. Odd things used to happen.
