Just read the meter and got our annual use statement.... Oil heat, electric cooking. Washmachine and dishwasher heat their own water as needed. We use an electric un demand water heater that runs sinks, tub and shower. Last year's use was a little over 5000 KW. Was so hot and dry this summer that the wife never used the clothes dryer more than a few minutes, switched laundry soap and use cooler water. Wife's company built a gym, sauna, and showers for the workers so she showered at most twice a week at home. We have a water hose real with about 150 ft of hose on it that sets in the sun in summer so I put a hose quick connect on a shower hose/faucet and showered the whole summer outside, and switched all lights in the house to CF and LED. This years use was just over 2000 KW. Think I'm gonna ditch the on demand heater (use it for a utility sink maybe) and start looking for a solar setup on ebay to supplement the oil heater for hot water.
And, provider sent a note in this statement that they were increasing our rates... Coincidence my a$$...... We are changing providers also.....
