For the first time in memory we did not celebrate on Christmas Eve. My daughter worked an overnight 12 hour shift. She will be here this afternoon along with a family who have adopted us as grandparents to their three wonderful kids. We will open presents and snack on lots of good things and light a fire in the fireplace. And pop a magnum of champagne.
