How about a cemetery? Fifty years ago there was a cemetery a few miles from here with a nice fence around it and some markers in it although it was off the road a ways, but in plain sight. It hadn't been used for a long time and eventually some old machinery was parked inside the fence. After some years the fence disappeared and the plot got smaller as plow furrows got closer to the markers. Eventually the markers and machinery disappeared and now you would have no idea that a cemetery ever was there because it's part of the corn field. I had the register of deeds look back for the history of it. It seems a family declared that plot of land as a family cemetery and it was deeded away from the land around it with a legal discription. There is no record that the plot was ever deeded back to the rest of the land. The family is not familiar to or in the community any more. I don't intend to make trouble or a fuss over it, but I don't like it!
