One of my wife's brothers had a Dodge Dakota pickup with an aftermarket remote start installed.
He has a two stall detached garage about 20 feet from his house, so one cold morning he just stuck his hand out the front door and hit the remote start button.
Seems the shifter hadn't quite clicked over from "Reverse" into "Park". The pickup started up and backed out right through the garage door. The pickup finally stalled when it backed into a light pole across the street.
I would assume a factory installed remote start would not start unless it was solidly into "Park".
