The local monster-mega diesel/electric place actually handed me a few little parts and showed me how to replace the seal on the speed control shaft on a Stanadyne. Of course they had to give me the disclaimer that probably the bushing, housing, or shaft, or something else was wrong, but I figured I could afford to listen. They just insulted me and turned me off on some antique starter parts. So, all I can say is keep looking and maybe you can find someone who is willing to help.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
