Tell you what...If my house wasn't worth (Thank God it still is) anywhere near what I paid for it because of the collapse of the housing market and it was causing me to live in severe financial hardship, I'd walk away from it too if I was able find any place I could afford. Let the mortgage holder take the loss....they can and will take the property when times are good if you lose your good job and can't pay for it...so let them suffer the loss with you when times are bad. After all you lose your investment too. They coughed up the big bucks to enable it to be bought in first place, even with it's inflated price. It was overeager lenders (and the government's socialist regulations) providing "easy money" to people that weren't really qualified that caused this problem in the first place....Too many overpriced homes on the market.
