RUN!!!! The JD 2010 was one of the worst tractors JD ever made. Yes it is a sleeve deck motor. They also have a hokey hydraulic system that is a nightmare to work on too.
Now the price he is asking is not bad if the sleeve deck is savable. As far as value they are selling well as the collectors are after the early ones to finish out new generation sets.
A running, straight tin, wide front one will bring $3500-4500. The diesels will bring a little more but at twice as expensive to fix.
So if your are a mechanic wanting to try out your religious fortitude then buy it. You will either find God or lose your mind working on it. LOL.
Truthfully, they are terrible running tractor with lots of issues. If you are wanting a tractor to keep and use then I would keep looking. You can find a nice Ford or MF the same age and they are a better tractor.
