I'll take my digital home monitor to the manual Dr. office method any day. Awhile back, when I was deciding that I had to do something about my BP, I would take it several times a day having done different things during the day. The pressure varied wildly. Did this many days and same results.
So when I go into the Dr.'s office the first thing I get is weighed and the second is a BP test, manually. I told the nurse that I monitor my BP at home and it is all over the place. I just drove over here, could have traffic trauma, came in and could have some emotional issues if you give me some wrong answers, so how do you make heads or tails of what you read my BP to be?
She thought about it for a minute and said "Well, we pay attention to the average over your trips here". Yeah right. Waste of time if you ask me and I told the Dr. He didn't answer me. That was just after I told him what I thought of the AMA. He said that he didn't agree with everything the AMA did either. Good. Then I told him that I am a prudent researcher and user of alternate medicine. Does he have a problem with that.....he said NO!
We get along fine. He got most of my BP under control with the water pill alone and I went back and told him I wanted it lower and he added the generic Lisinop and got it the rest of the way. 2 trips, total success. Good old country doctor.
