Well, reverse is fair play, no ? While the Chinese company is stealing the rough design of the F 150, how about Ford stealing the design of that 2.6 diesel the Chinese are putting in their F150 clone? My opinion, this country needs a 150 HP, 25-30 mpg 1/2 ton pickup. Never happen here I suppose. I remember about a year ago that one of the higher up talking heads from Ford, proudly displayed the new little diesel car engine. He quickly announced that it was for Europe and Asia only, Americans would never buy it. My thoughts, "Oh yeah"?? VW has a waiting list months long for every TDI diesel they can import into this country, so Why would not a little American diesel sell if done correctly??
My bet is that someone on the California CARB board does not want diesels, and the idiot US companys will not import or build any engine they can't sell in California. Me thinks they are their own worst enemy.
