I'm about 35 miles north of a Menards and 30 east of HD. The Menards employees are clueless and most of the time you have to rumage through the store yourself to find what you need. The HD has great help and if an employee isn't sure they will ask for help right now. THey also lode stuff for me.
Quality is another issue for me. The lumber at HD is of a higher quality by far.
I think as far as the employees go that it's the store management that makes it or breaks it.
