We had a trip that took us in the northern part of the greater Lansing (MI) area today. Many ponds and swamps along freeway were open water or only partially covered with a skim of ice. Here in Montcalm county, they have been icefishing for a few weeks, even through the last couple warm spells. Saw one fisherman leaving the lake the other day, towing his gear in one of those plastic sportsman sleds. It was floating over the ice on a layer of water. NO, not me, I don"t swim that well!
