Thing of it here is we're only talking about Federal witholding tax. I have a small part time job, on the check stub there's 6 different taxes with-held. Besides federal, there's state, city, school district, social security & medicare taxes. What I DON'T understand is the saying about half of Americans pay no income taxes at all. Only way I can see that is if you work "for nothing but under the table pay".
