It could be just a control problem. Some of these just had a linkage that the button worked and some of the later ones had an electric system. I always tried to stay away from AC 7000 series tractors. They where "Bad News.
I have had friends and neighbors own them. Many of them got to enjoy the high repair bills. The value of these is not good even if they are in perfect condition. One with any kind of transmission trouble is worth much less. Many times bone yards are the only buyers.
So unless you are real familiar with working on them I would pass. I know there will be AC guys on here telling you how wrong I am. Well if I am so wrong why is the value of them so low????? Equipment that is cheap is that way for a reason. The free market works very well on these problem pieces of equipment. So I would recommend you pass on it unless the seller is willing to pay to have the problem fixed.
