I am losing my mind. My girlfriend has a 07 Isuzu Rodeo that runs hot at speed and up hill (3/4-7/8 on the gauge it is a four cylinder). The problem is somewhat intermitent in that it does not always do this, but usually. I have replaced the thermostat, the radiator cap, the clutch fan checks out ok, there is no weeping at the water pump and the bearings seem tight, the belts are tight.
While it is running hot, the cap is not terribly hot, that is you can touch it, my experience tells me that at operating temp or higher you shouldn't be able to touch the cap. Also, the top hose seems a little cooler than the bottom hose when you are able to touch the cap. When the temp is normal and it is not running hot you cannot touch the cap.
Also note that this problem started over the winter, though our winters are not hard.
