First thing i would do is a pressure test of the lift pump. If it has not been updated you may have done damage to the injection pump . The sucking air thing like others have said also could be the problem. I went thru this with my 95 and about drove me to drink more . My problem was at the tank where the line connected to the sending unit , it never leaked a drop and showed no signs of leakage but when i touched it it just fell off . Then the next round was with the fuel lines behind the tank. Since they are no serviced by the dealer i had to make them both . If the factory ones lasted 16 years then this set i made should last 20-25 years since i could not find .028 wall in straight length over 6 foot I used .035 wall hyd line as it comes in 20 foot lengths . It was a little tougher to bend but i have the benders to do it . When i was done it all fit like a glove .
