My father put together a mill about 1950. He first installed a blower from a threshing machine to handle the sawdust. It had two problems: 1. bark and slivers would land over the inlet and clog up 2. When the mill was idling (a 1 man and a boy operation) to turn the log, or put a new log on the carriage, the blower was too slow to pick up and move sawdust. You learn quickly that green sawdust is much heavier and sticky than dry sawdust. He converted to a chain drag such as yours. Solved both problems - your setup looks very functional.
