The model # should be stamped on the fan shroud , top or either side. Something like: HSSK50+ for Horizontal, Small frame, Snow King, 5.0 HP, etc.
The Toro model number should also be tracable back to which engine model you have. Check Toro's web site or any engine repair shop, they do that every day.
Tecumseh published a "Tecumseh Mechanic's Handbook for 3 to 10 HP 4-Cycle Engines" (L-Head) part #740049, 106 pages. It's handy if you own more than one Tecumseh engine. They are still available on E-bay for around $15. They used to be sold in hardware stores, and just about anyplace that sold lawn mowers, snowblowers, etc.
