I think you mean you set the points to 0.022" not 0.22"! What does your spark look like? Pull the center lead out of the distributor cap, hold in near a good ground and try a start. You should see a FAT, BLUISH-WHITE SPARK the color of lightning. Do this! what do you see?
If the spark is good, then put a jumper wire between the battery connection and the battery side of the coil. MAKE SURE THE TRACTOR IS NOT IN GEAR and try a start. Let the engine run an see if it behaves as before. If it does, then the switch is not the problem. If it fixes the problem then the switch is bad. If the problem still exists, check the firing order and the initial timing as well as the timing at high speed to make sure that the timing is not initially retarded and the centrifugal advance is working correctly. You"ll need a timing light to check the advance at high speed. Rreport back on what you find. Eliminate igniton problems first and then work the fuel issue.
