Before the days of emissions Cummins sold a lube oil blender. Its purpose was to mix oil with fuel at oil change time eliminating the need to dispose of the oil and you also got a few gallons of "free" fuel. I don't think anybody worried about it but there was no mention of adding any lubricity to the fuel. But, this was before the days of low sulphur fuels and nobody worried about it. I have heard recently of people mixing clear hydraulic fluid to the fuel for lubrication. I do not know if this does any good or not.
