: who invented the combine Jared, Two gentlemen named Moore and Hascall produced the first real attempt at a combine in 1834 in Michigan, but these early machines were not suited to the Midwest conditions, so a later version was shipped to California via the Cape for the 1854 harvest. This early Hiram Moore machined burned, so in 1858, Strong & Taylor built a replacement for the farmer-owner, John M. Horner. During the period from 1859 to 1869 he operated three of these machines in the San Joaquin Valley. Jogg.
