BLW,I live in NW SC, near the Greenville/ Spartanburg area. I just spent about an hour looking at the Craigslist's listing for properties that would meet your wants. Acreage prices run about $9,000 to $15,000 per acre for undeveloped smaller parcels. I did not find anything worth posting a link to here but I will keep looking. As far as trading tractors for land, I cannot offer an opinion on that. A lot of the smaller farms here are being cut up into building lots as the metro area of G-ville & Spartanburg continues to sprawl out into what was farm land, when this happens most of the equiptment has already been sold. A smaller 1-2 ac. lot that has decent road access is bringing about $20- 25 per acre. Sorry I can't offer more advice at this time but as I said, I will keep looking.
