Sometimes they "overlook" you.... I make it a habit to YELL (!!) "hepp" and raise and waive my arm or both if one does not do it. (hard to put it in words, but the auctioneer helper yell it when they spot/hear someone bid/raise a bid. Y'all know what it sounds like if you go to auctions.....) It not only gets their attention because they think its a fellow helper, but people around you take notice of your yelling and arm waiving, which in return is hard to ignore by the auction staff. Makes you look like an idiot, but I do that a few times and they will not ignore me anymore .... If I may add a gripe of mine, I hate it when they bundle "scrap", several items, implements etc to accomodate the scrappers. Scrapper have "accounts" with a lot of auctioneers, they do not need to pay at the end of the day, they will get a bill in the mail. What the #/*-<^@! makes them so special?? Just venting, Ralph.
