Just finished watching a German show about organic farmers growing Hops, tomatoes, asparagus, and lettuce...
Fields hectares in size and it was mostly hand work.
Tips on tomatoes for natural fertilizer that the folks claimed to be better than commercial stuff. They cut nettle and soaked it to make a broth(??) then mixed it like 20 parts water to 1 part broth to water the tomatoes. Also, when they planted the plant, they planted the pot it came in next to it so the bottom (with holes) was at root level and filled the pot to water the plants.
The asparagus is what really gets me. think the only thing that's not hand work is the initial tilling of the field. Big thing coming soon in this area is white asparagus. Expensive to buy, but when you see the work involved, it's too cheap (if I was doing the work :roll: ) Got a big produce plantation(???) not far away and it's fascinating to watch the goings on.... Especially the harvesting. Tractors that look like airplanes with big covered wings and people laying inside them to pick veggies.....
