I don't see how you could expect him to keep it forever just because you procrastinated so long. If you where really serious about it then you would have figured out a way to go get it.
As to the earlier posting about the guy being in the wrong for not calling you. Well he DID WAIT a year!!!!
I sell quite a lot of stuff on Craig's list. I have a very simple policy on selling there. The first person in my drive with the cash is the owner. I don't take checks and I don't hold stuff for people anymore either.
I used to let guys take advantage of me that way, not any more. I had some old IH castings and frame rails etc. Mostly "M" and "H" stuff. The good parts had been picked off of them. Four years ago when scrap was sky high I was going to haul them in for scrap. Some how a guy heard I was going to get rid of them. He came over and agreed to buy all of it. He even gave me $200 down. I waited on him for a year. I called him every month to see when he was coming after the stuff. HE always had some reason for not coming. I needed the room for stuff that had good parts on them. I finally called and gave him 30 days to come and get the stuff. He never showed. I hauled it in for scrap. The price was $150 a ton less than when I originally was going to get rid of the stuff. HE even had the nerve to raise cane about his deposit. I told him the storage bill ate his deposit up.
So now it is cash and carry. If you want to leave it then it is $250 per month/per item to store it. It is amazing how fast someone will come and get stuff when they get a storage bill.
