I am working with a geology graduate student that took soil samples from north west South Dakota. His research is based on tracing the amounts of silica residual in the grassy soil horizons back to about 3000 years (about 750mm deep (3')) He didn't collect samples of live native grass when he was there, and needs a reference point to set the values of the samples he has preped from each layer below the surface. He will need a sample that includes only native grasses (not Hay crop or modern seed). The sample will be no more than a cup of grass stuffed in a 5X8" envelope. He will make arrangements to describe the sample and clear location details. I figured someone on here would be in a position to assist in this studey rather than have him drive round trip to get a hand full of grass. If you live in the NW corner of SD and are willing or know someone who does, let me know. either on here with a response or Email. Jim Jim
